Laparoscopic TEP Hernioplast

A Simplified ApproachLaparoscopic Totally Extraperitoneal (TEP) hernioplasty is considered the gold standard for inguinal hernia repair due to its low complication rate. However, the technique can be challenging to master. This study aimed to describe a simplified technique for laparoscopic TEP hernioplasty, known as Dulucq’s technique, which involves the use of a 3D mesh without fixation.

Methods:

The surgical steps of Dulucq’s technique are outlined.

Results:

A total of 945 inguinal hernias were repaired using this technique. The average surgery time was 45 minutes for unilateral hernias and 65 minutes for bilateral hernias. No significant complications were reported.

Conclusion:

Dulucq’s technique offers a feasible and less invasive approach to laparoscopic TEP hernioplasty. By following specific steps and minimizing the use of diathermy, surgeons can achieve satisfactory results with fewer complications.
